According to statistics from Ningbo Customs, in the first seven months this year, the total import and export value of Ningbo reached US$55.49 billion, down by 0.4% over the same period last year. Specifically speaking, the import value was US$35.17 billion, up by 2.7%, and the export value was US$20.32 billion, down by 5.4%. What is worth noting is that despite the overall downturn of the foreign trade, the performance of Ningbo's special pillar industries is rather impressive.
According to Ningbo Customs, although the export value of textiles & garments and plastic raw materials dropped by a small margin, exports of other special pillar industries in Ningbo, such as small household appliances, refined oil products, plastic products, lamps, furniture and LCD panels, have grown steadily.
Among others, the growth rates of exports of refined oil products, lamps and lighting equipments, plastic products and auto parts have reached over 10%. The export value of refined oil products reached US$280 million, up by 21.8% over the previous year, and that of lamps and lighting equipments reached US$910 million, up by 19.2%. The export value of plastic products reached US$1.09 billion, up by 12.8%, and that of auto parts reached US$800 million, up by 10.6%. As for other special pillar industries, the export value of furniture and parts reached US$820 million, up by 9.9%; that of small household appliances reached US$1.65 billion, up by 9%; and that of LCD panels reached US$1.07 billion, up by 7%.
